AVENGERS: ENDGAME
THE AMAZING END TO AN AWESOME ERA

Avengers: Endgame is the fourth Avengers movie and the 22nd movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Before we continue, similar to our Captain America review, we advise that you watch, basically a chunk of the MCU before seeing this movie to make sure you know everything that is going on, especially Avengers: Infinity War. You will appreciate this movie so much more if you know what you are watching is more than just a movie.

Avengers Endgame takes place in the aftermath of Infinity War, where the Avengers aim to fix Thanos's doing from the previous movie. Where the last movie featured Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Black Panther, The Winter Soldier and the Guardians of the Galaxy, this movie shifts its character focus of the overall MCU to Ant-Man (not spoiling how he got out of the quantum realm), Captain Marvel, Rocket and Nebula (Who survived the decimation among the other Guardians), in addition to the main cast of Avengers. This movie is one huge love letter to every Marvel fan in existence, taking its time to set things into place, as all great masterpieces should, not rushing to the final battle, but giving us time to enjoy every emotion sprouting out of the cast in their moments of pain and hurt (off of the battlefield, not just on it). Avengers: Endgame's pacing is honestly, perfect for the story it wishes to tell. A fast-paced story wishing to reach its climax quickly is not as enjoyable as what Endgame has done with the three hours that it has given itself.

In addition to its pacing, Avengers Endgame has many Marvel References that fans are sure to love, either revisiting points in previous movies (hence, the reason why we stated that you should check out the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies leading up to this one), or bringing other events in the comics into the MCU, especially when the stakes are so high not only in the movie but outside of it. The movie also hits us with many surprises for what seems to be a lot of these characters final appearances (hint: there is more than one death, and we are not just talking about Thanos). If you are a Marvel Fan, you will have your fan fill of Marvel references, and then some.

The only complaint to be had is the presence and hype of some characters in marketing, only to make more brief appearances, in comparison to other characters. Some characters were given more spotlight treatment while some appear and disappear for the majority of the film, only to appear again at some point in the future of the movie. It is kind of disappointing if you had your hopes up for a particular character in the poster, but at least they were in the movie at some point. It does not take away from the actual enjoyment of the film.

For a 22 movie franchise spanning the course of 10 years, Avengers: Endgame marks the end of one era and the beginning of another. It is the perfect love letter to any Marvel fan, especially if you can hold yourself up to the three hours of the film. We loved this film so much that we are giving it a perfect score 10/10, and we hope the future of the MCU beyond phase 3 is just as enjoyable as what has been done here.
